Coral Hildebrandt - Mrs. Wisconsin-America 2009

On June 6th 2009, Coral Hildebrandt of Sherwood was crowned the new Mrs. Wisconsin-America 2009. This was part of a tri-state pageant which also named winners from Iowa and Minnesota. Coral not only won the crown but took away awards for "Best in Swimsuit", and "Best in Evening Gown". "It is truly humbling".
Coral says when she was young she loved to pretend to be a fairy princess. She would dress up in her favorite sparklely pajamas and dance around the living room. "I still recall watching my first Miss America Pageant. I was absolutely in awe of these woman. I remember asking "how old do I have to be before I can do that?" I wanted so much to be one of them. Who could have ever imagined that little girls dreams would come true."
Coral is looking forward to this opportunity to promote one of her passions in life- health and fitness education. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay with a Bachelors Degree in Urban and Regional Studies, as well as her Nursing Diploma. " As a nephrology nurse, I see everyday the impact that a lack of understanding of fitness has on my patient's health. Now I'm taking every advantage to promote health and fitness education." She also wants to pursue becoming a personal fitness trainer.
She is a self- proclaimed "running nut". Coral has been a long distance runner most of her life. She ran her first marathon in 1994 and has been hooked ever since. It is her goal through out the year to enter walks and runs to raise money for health and fitness related causes. "In this way I hope to serve by example."
Coral and her husband love to travel. "We try to get away once or twice a year." They have traveled the United States extensively. They also have adventured abroad to such places as Scotland, Italy, and Wales. She is hoping this year will prove to be an even bigger adventure.
Coral Has been happily married to Jason for 5 years. It has been a long road for them. They met on the high school athletic field. "We were almost instant friends with our playful debate over who was the better athlete. We finally got our act together 13 years later and started dating" she laughs. "Now I wonder what I ever did without him. He has been my constant rock to lean on. I will be forever thankful to my husband, his family and mine, but most of all my parents. Thank you for not laughing at my dreams but always wanting this for me as much as I wanted it for myself."
